It takes a village to be an artist in New York, hence the name of the production. Phonetically, C(HORIO) is read to sound like “choreo” as in “choreography”! HORIO (χωριό) is the Greek word for village. Founder, director, and producer Sophia Elena Stefanopoulos believes that her village is her community. She owes much of her artistic journey to the women in her village. These women, including the cohort of choreographers, exemplify the dualities of womanhood, such as softness and strength. Join our HORIO through the expression of choreography, to showcase the interconnections of dance with womanhood, femininity, village, and community.
